NEWS: "COVID-19" Permitting... I am tentatively looking forward to spending some time in Canada this summer with the Halls Island Artist Residency - so honored to be accepted and can't wait to meet the good folks of Haliburton County, eh!
Carry your torch, sing your song, and bravely press on, folks! This world needs you to be your best self -- the best friend you can be, the best person you can be. Yes, climate change, natural disasters, wars and political ugliness are depressing forces. But we need to face our problems and deal with them as best we can, and I, for one, want to choose joy. Despite it all. Even if it means, as one spiritual guide told me in the desert -- "We will be dancing at the Apocalypse." End of sermon...
So, my friends, it's 2020, and I just found out my album Here I Am is a finalist for the Washington Area Music Awards for Best Country/Americana and Best Folk Albums. I'm also working on a new EP with Diana Quinn with our duo the Snarky Sisterz.
Last year, 2019 was a busy year! "My Daily Bread" was a finalist in the Peace Song Awards and was awarded a Silver Medal in the Global Music Awards. Also, this song was a finalist/added to RAWA's Songs of Social Change Compilation CD , and it is was a nominee for the 2019 Hollywood Songwriting Contest, and a Nominee of the 2019 American Songwriting Awards.
Songs from "Here I Am" Reviews:
YORK CALLING “‘My Daily Bread” is a fantastic song, with Wright’s soft vocals pulling along the acoustic guitar melody along perfectly. The chord progression is absolutely beautiful, and the combination of folk and country styles really makes the track stand out on its own. We can’t wait to hear more from her!”
COME HERE FLOYD "Award winning and delightfully followed, LISA ANN WRIGHT, offers up another single of gentle vibes and assurances with ‘Just A Little Thing’. The unassuming single is about the those little things in life that makes life, worth while. We remember the small and (at the moment) seemingly insignificant. But as our energies dwindle and times becomes a bit shorter, all of the grandeur and magnificence of life are summed up in those twinkle in her eye when she smiled – his attention when you needed a shoulder to cry on. The ballad of acoustic appeal, reminds us that dipping back into that most innocent of times can relieve us of the angst and negativity that we feel so much. LISA ANN WRIGHT is there for you to help guide the way."
Also, "I Paid Up" was chosen for an Honorable Mention award for the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest in the Americana category and "No Apology" was chosen for the Honorable Mention award in the Gospel/Christian/Inspirational category. Last year, "I Know You" received an Honorable Mention award in this contest.
Namaste, y'all. Keep checking back for more news, gigs and songs! And remember, do what ya gotta do to say what ya gotta say!!
