HER FRONT YARD IS OUR BACK YARD
"We're all poor people around here. We thought this was going to be great for us," she said, referring to the extensive gas development that has been concentrated in her town. "But we didn't expect explosions." Norma Fiorintino, Dimick, PA (25 miles from Binghamton, NY--after explosion in her yard January 3rd)
HOPE
"Peggy Wallace Kennedy introduced Attorney General Eric Holder at a historic Selma church filled to overflowing.
"It's reconciliation and redemption," Wallace's daughter said."
AGREED
"I don't want to hear your philosophy if it doesn't grow corn." Sun Bear of the Anishinaabe
INSPIRATION
"...The purpose of fear is to motivate us to action. Many of us have sat around countless times saying how much we needed someone to do something. If I am not willing to take a stand for my generation, then who will? This year I have come to terms with the idea that I might be my own best hope to defend my future. Hopefully all of us will realize that we are the ones we have been waiting for."
Tim DeChristopher, activist

NEW SONG on Music Page:
"Don't Go Frackin' Round in My Backyard"
Sung by Joe Crookston and played by Richie Stearns
Landmen have been approaching landowners in upstate NY about leasing their land for natural gas extraction, which uses a process called "hydraulic fracturing", or "fracking."
It's a process that has been developed by companies like Halliburton, which in itself isn't what so terrible--it's the fact that the Dark Lord Cheney himself pushed through getting exemptions from, among other protections, the Clean Water Act. In other words, this type of gas drilling can poison and decimate rural land-- and the government as of now cannot protect us.
What kind of human beings think it's OK to poison mostly poor, rural folks? I guess the kind of people who think waterboarding isn't torture.
